YORKSHIRE 3 PEAKS CHALLENGE

PEN-Y-GHENT - WHERNSIDE - INGLEBOROUGH
Distance: 24 miles approx
This is simply a reccy or survey, over three consecutive days, of one of the routes walkers choose to undertake in this challenge.
The following are links to detailed maps and photographs, guiding you through from start to finish.
PEN-Y-GHENT

Day 1

Weather - overcast with occasional sunshine bursting through clouds. Light breeze.
Rain had fallen for 4-5 days prior to the day of this walk.
WHERNSIDE

Day 2

Weather - heavy rain to start though diminished as reached Blea Moor. Winds 45mph
and gusting, on ascent, summit and start of descent. Cloud resting on summit
though did lift as leaving summit.
INGLEBOROUGH

Day 3

Weather - heavy rain from start to leaving the summit. Thick cloud on summit.
Wind 35-40mph on ascent, 55mph with gusts on summit.
Wind combined with heavy rain on summit was uncomfortable and seemed to be increasing.
Wind was gusting at 45mph when arrived at Horton in Ribblesdale.
